Jean P Dixon - Obituary 2009
Chester lost a long standing Member when Jean Dixon passed away in late November
2008.
Jean was by profession a Research Chemist with Shell at Thornton Research Centre,
Specialising in Micro Analytical Chemistry. She was a authority on the subject,
and had a book published on Micro Analysis.
Jean joined Chester P.S. in about 1975, in 1980 she became Secretary and served
in that capacity until 1984, when she became President. Between 1986 and 1990
she was Competition Secretary and followed this as Treasurer 1991 - 1993,
a total of thirteen years on the club committee. In recognition of this service
Jean was made a Honorary Vice President of the Society in 1997.
Jean's main interests in photography were Still Life and Natural History she also
enjoyed Travel Photography, and went on a number of Safari Holidays to Kenya,
she also enjoyed a few cruises with her close friend the late Isobel Morton,
FRPS.
