"Time To Play" - Dianne Owen FRPS

Not long after joining Southport PS they had a talk from Rikki O’Neill and that defined what Dianne wanted to do with her photography. He was later to become her mentor for her panels and a good friend. In her images she hopes to bring a memory or special moment back, to sprinkle the image with a little magic for the viewer. Still Life is a favourite of hers, as it’s easier to fit in to the limited time she has available. On starting an image the relationship of the elements in it are so important, the shape, form and balance that creates the final piece has to fit together completely. She likes to bring a reflection of emotion and make it in her own style. Dianne gets her ideas from many hours wandering round the internet looking at other photo and art sites, these are simply absorbed into the subconscious. Visit www.dianneowen.info

But since resigning from the RPS in 2010 she is no longer able to use the FRPS in her list of distinctions. In March 1997 she was invited to membership of the London Salon of Photography. She gained EFIAP (Excellence de la Federation International d'Art Photographique) in 2000. She attained MPAGB in April 2007. Irene was awarded the APAGB (Award of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain for Services to Photography) in 1985 and this was superceded in 2004 by the award of the J S Lancaster Medal (HonPAGB) for Exceptional Service to Photography. "Channel Blending in PhotoShop" - Tremaine Cornish EPSA, EFIAP, BPE 2*

Tremaine is the Hon Exhibitions Secretary for the L&CPU. “As well as doing straight photography - capturing what is in front of the camera, it is fun to create one's own reality. After all why should reality get in the way of a good picture - artists don't - so why should we photographers. I can find the slightest thing will spark an idea for a potential image, and these are frequently scribbled down for later reference. It may be a turn of phrase, an advert on the TV or yet something that catches my eye when out and about, and much more. I endeavour to do something connected with photography every day - it is a passion, but others may think an obsession.” Visit www.tremainecornish.eu

He became involved in the field of renewable energy, continuing to take photos and setting up his own company with a friend in Glasgow in 1996. Whilst maintaining a commitment to the environment, in 2004 Ted decided to acknowledge his passion for photography, leaving the company and travelling for a year through Scotland, the UK, Europe and Northern Africa to update his portfolio of landscape and environmental images - the fields of photography he now specialises in. "How to Look at, Read and Compose Photographs" - Brian Law

Brian, who last year gave a talk on Pictorialism and Art, works in both B&W and colour. His work has been informed more by painters, particularly the Symbolists and Expressionists; they both managed to create a sense of stillness and tranquillity whilst coupling this with a feeling of unease and uncertainty. Recently he has become interested in the Pictorialist photographers who were pioneers of art photography in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In Dec 2010 he received a CPAGB accreditation from the PAGB. His panel of images, some of which can be seen on his website, can be viewed in full on the Macclesfield Camera Club website, accessed via the links section. Visit www.brianlawphotography.co.uk

"Urban Landscapes" - John Davies

Quote from Roberta Valtorta in 2000 (Roberta Valtorta is photographic historian and professor at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Milan).
"John Davies is one of today's most outstanding British photographers, he became famous through his research on the English industrial landscape, observed in vast and detailed views...
John Davies's work belongs to the world of contemporary documentary photography. Faithful to a refined, pure black and white, taken on as the absolute rule of a subtle, analytic style. He chooses the vastness of space inhabited by the powerful elements of nature and the contradictory ones of culture to operate in two directions. On the one hand, the evocation of emotional states through the photographic rendering of a space-light that is alive, almost metaphysical, and recalls the symbolisation of the forces of nature in Turner. On the other, a crystal-clear gaze that sounds the material aspects of the contemporary landscape which is tied to the development of the productive activities and concrete structuring of the world through the molding power of economy and property".
