Workshop Description
1. Intro
Mike Reed
This time we are trying something new in response to requests from previous
participants for some feedback / advice / guidance on photographs.
Mike Reed has agreed to give advice using his experience both as a judge and a commercial photographer.
We are proposing that participants bring some photographs to show at the meeting and
each will be looked at as below:-
- Author’s introduction and intention, interests etc.
- Brief judge-type comments from Mike Reed
e.g. composition and technical competence etc.
- General comments including possible improvements to photograph, e.g. cropping,
contrast etc., but NOT detailed photo-editing
2. Image Viewing
Mike Reed
Each participant will have only 5 minutes per photograph, strictly controlled,
in order to allow everyone to have a fair go. This means, for the three and half hours
of the session, we can only handle 42 five minute slots. If some take less time then
we may be able to handle more.
This type of session will take a little more organising than usual and will need to
work to a strict timetable.
Because of the programme and the accommodation it will be necessary to limit the
number of participants showing photographs in this session, we think this will probably be 12.
But it will be possible for some ‘spectators’ to attend.
So if you would like some feedback on your photographs please register ASAP.
If over-subscribed, we will work on a first come first served based on the date
and time we received your email.
We will then begin to work out a few more details and will email all participants
with this information including how to prepare your photographs.
As we will need to import into Lightroom, it would be very helpful if you could arrange
to bring photographs on a USB Flash Drive or CD-ROM.
What you should bring
If you wish to bring along your laptop feel free to do so, there are plenty of power points in the new venue.
Refreshments
Tea and Coffee is available at no extra charge during a 30 minute break at the half-way point and provides a
good opportunity to chat with other people.
